My Blog:
First things first, I sincerely apologize for not communicating with you for quite some time! My server has been down for several weeks. Looks like I’m back in business now so… let’s rap.
As you may or may not know, my book, The Villains of Splazat is dedicated to the memory of the beautiful little souls of Sandy Hook Elementary who were tragically murdered five (5) years ago at their school in Connecticut. Then, just three weeks ago I sent out a tweet screaming bloody murder with #tags, U.S. Senate, the House of Representatives, The President of the United States (POTUS) and Supreme Court (SCOTUS) to “do something” and to “STOP THE CARNAGE” after the killing of two children and 18 others injured! This happened when a 15-year-old opened fire at a high school in Kentucky. I really thought, naively, that that incident might be “it” and get their attention… but to no avail. I should have known, like many of you, if the murder of 20 babies and 3 teachers in Newtown could not get Congress to act, then nothing would.
We are correct in thinking that the carnage will continue. To prove it, 17 innocent children were murdered and scores injured this past Wednesday, February 14 in a Broward County’s Parkland High School. It was on a day that we expect to express our love to significant others in our lives…Valentine’s Day! How Ironical. It is a chilling and frightening statistic to learn that seven weeks into 2018, there have been eight shootings at American schools that have resulted in injury or death.
My answer to this carnage is to change U.S. gun laws and especially automatic weapons created purely to kill people, vis-à-vis the AR-15. But, with the current group of representatives in Congress right now there is zero political will to do anything but let the carnage continue!
Let’s not do that. I encourage you to run for office on the local, state and federal level. I would do it myself but I devoted 30 years of my life to public service in the U.S. Air Force, Department of Defense and finally retiring with the Department of Interior. I guess I’m a tired soldier and think we need new, fresh blood with more women, brown and black people! Let’s truly “drain the swamp” and send new people to Washington who have compassion and common sense! If you agree, I would love to hear back from you on this website.
I promise to talk about children’s books in my next blog. I just needed to vent and get the tragedies off my chest!
To close on a Positive Note, I am pleased to announce that my book “The Villains of Splazat” was just selected for the prestigious Mom’s Choice Awards® (MCA). They evaluate products and services created for children, families and educators. The program is globally recognized for establishing the benchmark of excellence in family-friendly media, products and services. My book will carry the silver seal honoring excellence in a children’s book.
MCA evaluators volunteer their time and are bound by a strict code of ethics which ensures expert and objective analysis free from any manufacturer association.
The evaluation process uses a proprietary methodology in which items are scored on a number of elements including production quality, design, educational value, entertainment value, originality, appeal and cost. Each item is judged on its own merit.
MCA evaluators are especially interested in items that help families grow emotionally, physically and spiritually; are morally sound and promote good will; and are inspirational and uplifting. I am very proud that The Villains of Splazat is honored to carry the seal of the Mom’s Choice Awards®
Stay tuned for my next blog coming soon.
